I’m leaving for New Haven to attend Yale this fall.

I’m very interested in establishing my own restaurant business around the area.If I could find someone, I’d prefer to have a partner since I reckon it would be a bit too time-consuming for a college freshman to handle.

Any ideas on how much time and effort I should look forward to give the business?

Also, how did you determine the type of business that you wanted to open? What sort of start-up costs did you encounter? How long until your business started returning a profit? Are you better off now after starting your own business? Any tips you’d care to share?

Do I file a separate tax return for the business? It’s a sole proprietorship.
Can I deduct startup costs?
Any more tax advice would be helpful.

Mainly locally, A small computer repair business, with many other services, wireless installations, hardware repair, system repair, spyware/virus removal, and so on. I’m trying to boost up the business, and one recommendation was to make an ad and just start putting it in people mail box’s. or apartment buildings. the good thing about the business is that the services are very cheap, so its hard to pass it on! any recommendations on how to get more business?

I have a sole-owned and operated LLC for stock trading. In normal jobs you can deduct traveling expenses (gas expenses etc.) for business purposes, but I would like to know this : Can I deduct going to the library and other educational facilities for business use and business education on my tax return if I go there often every week for the purpose? What kind of proof would I need to claim this? Just my own calculations? Thanks for your time!!!
