Creating matching translations is always a problem, and good legal translators are quite rare. Words and phrases just don't have the same meaning in different languages, even if the literal translation is accurate. Michael K

i would suggest the biz of media reporting.
they are constantly facing ethical problems and decisions.

one good example is the Dateline "To Catch A Predator" series. they now are on the proverbial ethical block ---one whole county in Texas dismissed all charges against all pedafiles on this show because they claim the police were not calling the shots...dateline was.
there was even a DA that committed suicide because he was identified by Dateline as a pedafile.
Was the media's actions unethical in these situations?

another example would be "what and when should media be reporting"....everything (all the facts), how will it impact the american citizens, should info be held back etc.
look at the Bin Laden videotape thing...government has seen it, all media claims to have seen it- and they report on it...but mr. joe citizen still has not been able to view it...is this unethical, and irresponsible of the media?

thanks for asking :)
good luck Blue October

Smell is possible, but generally horses aren't as bad as cattle and, if it is a well run stable, the manure will never be allowed to accumulate.

I'd be more concerned about dust. Does the stable have an arena? Events like rodeo, dressage, roping, etc, can generate quite a bit.

The other dust aspect centers on vehicle traffic. Are the roads gravel and will you be annoyed by the dust traffic might generate?

On the plus side, equine sports are really cool. You might find an addicting and satisfying hobby in a convenient location peeking over your fence at you.

Regards! rancidcrab

Inability to negotiate with suppliers and vendors - Since they are not buying as much as a company like Walmart, they won't get the same deals or bargaining power.

Inability to hire talent - Most of these small firms can't pay as much or offer as many benefits (especially health care), so the best talent usually will go elsewhere. Homeslice

Tysons, BPI, or Smithfield.

All three are the biggest and most major meat/food companies in the US. All three use "feed lots" and their animals recieve horrid treatment. They have genetically made chickens so fat, that they hardly walk their whole lives because they can't carry the unnatural weight. They live in hot, dirty, and cramped chicken houses till it's time to die... The cows are fed corn, which is unnatural to a cows diet, and it fattens them up in half the time doing it the right way would. But it makes them unhealthy, and many suffer from kidney failure. Some of these cows, like the chickens, can no longer stand up. They are shocked, and poked, and proded, and pushed along to get them loaded on the slaughter trucks. Some of these cows are so sickly that they die on the way to the slaughter house. Despite being dead from disease, or still alive and diseased, they still slaughter these animals and send them to your local grocery store. The same goes for pigs.
This is why humans have been plagued more often in the last 10 years from food poisonings. And instead of the meat companies going, "wow, people are getting sick. Maybe we should stop feeding them sick animals..." they just developed new technology to make it "safer". So now, they treat all your meat with ammonia (a known poison) to make it "safe" for human consumption. It's pretty bad when someone would rather treat your food with poison to make it safe rather than just make their animals healthier.

This whole issue is something I'm very passionate about. But I dont want to give you every bit of information you would need for your paper. If this topic is of interest, just know it's an extremly horrible one to see and experience if you had no idea where your food comes from. I don't even eat as much meat anymore. When I eat meat I've spent extra on it to make sure it came from a local and organic farm, or I hunt legally. I don't want to eat an animal that lived such a horribly abused life and died sick and shot up full of stuff that IS bad for us. RockstarMonday

Of course capitalism has an important role in today's problems. Some argue that it created today's economic problems but others suggest that the governmental controls of american capitalism has create the problems. Capitalism is the foundation of many economies and ours as well however as government has become involved by societal pressures to protect some businesses the natural competition created by capitalism has been stifled and shifted in favor of some companies and other parties. No true capitalist economy exists today all are controled by governments or unions that are supported and given power by the government. sjwanderer

It takes capital to start a business and to keep it going. sometimes part of that capital is provided by creditors. They expect a return as well as the owners. It was your decision to finance the business with debt. the creditors accepted the risk. As your business prospers and you repay the debt, it will be easier to live without a high debt burden. Debt is not always bad. It can provide positive financial leverage, allowing you to earn a higher return on your investment than the cost of the debt. Serge M

The global recession is just starting (you may have heard this ?)

Very few investors will be interested right now = they will all be waiting for things to get worse ... in a year or two, those with cash will have their pick of some really good money earning businesses where they can 'buy you out' for pennies ...

If your business is going bust already (I assume the Banks have already turned you down) I would say your chances are slim .. your best bet would be friends & relatives & perhaps your Senior staff could be tempted to switch from wage earners to Partners ..... .. it's also possible that some of your middle managers and other staff would be willing to take wage cuts in exchange for a share of the business .. Steve B

Politics.

That may not count, since no one really expects to find an answer to that one, since the people that could find one aren't looking. open4one
