Nickname Here asked:

I have a small business that was just deemed Nonprofit by the state. Prior to this, i had only been in business for about 1.5 years. In the past, i just filed regular business taxes. Now that i am nonprotif status, do i have to file my taxes differently?

Thanks!
No, i was told that i DONT have to file tax exempt, that part is optional based on circumstances

For many years businesses have been the focus of the government and special interests. Now the President is trying refocus efforts on the people who do the work. Under the new policies, labor will be given benefits and entitlements directly so business can focus on business and paying taxes.

Heron By The Sea asked:

I want to offer online classes in Religious Studies subjects after I graduate with my degree in Religious Studies. I would charge maybe $10 or $20 per person per class, and offer subjects such as: Introduction to World Religions, Learn to Read and Write Hebrew, Introduction to Judaism, Introduction to Ancient Religions, etc.

I myself took an online Taoism class like this, and really enjoyed it.

But how do you do this legally? Do you have to get a business license? How do you do taxes? What else do I need to know about starting an online business?

Thanks.

Ann54 asked:

I teach yoga from time to time. I received Forms 1099-MISC and last year earned a total of $4400 in 3 different states. Because it is non-employee compensation do I have to file as a business? I do not have any inventory or expenses for this service and do not do it all of the time. Can I just claim it as Other Income and avoid all that business stuff?

I’m a small business doing taxes and accounting for the first time, who do I talk to?

Ruffus asked:

I started a sole proprietorship in September.

My business records are stored in 2 different programs and I have a file with a handful of receipts. Plus I have 3 W-2s from previous employers.

I need to have someone do my taxes and set up Quickbooks for me. Is there one type of business that can do that or do I need to talk to a tax person and a accounting person?

Of course I’m looking for the most cost effective way to accomplish this.

I have a friend who owns a small business. She takes credit card payments and charges tax on the items sold. I recently found out she has not done taxes for the business or herself, in years. She had the store for about 6 yrs, the first year she filed taxes but not since then. I dont think this is right. How do I report this? And what would happen to her?
Do not write stupid comments about how I’m not a good friend for reporting her. READ THE QUESTION!
