I am looking to sell one of my businesses in the Phoenix area. It is a part time business that is growing, however I am going to be relocating out of state. I have a broker but that doesn’t seem to be moving the process along quickly. Any ideas???? I have posted a listing on Craigslist and stumblehere.

What is the best method to sell a very small home-based business? I think it may be too small to go through a business broker, so not certain what the best way to market or advertise the sale of the business. Also, what is a good way to value a business with very little in assets and no debt. Sales of about $13,500 a year for part-time work from home.

I have an automotive repair shop and I would like to defer paying capital gains tax by rolling the proceeds of the sale of the business into another investment. I do not see the point of paying capital gains tax on the sale when I will simply take the money and reinvest it in another business. Can I do this even if the money does not go into a similar business? Ideally, I’d like to invest the money in a mutual fund and take out maybe 10% per year to help with living expenses.
