What is considered “business attire” for women, and how is it different from “business casual”?

manders asked:

I have a national meeting to go to in a couple of weeks, and it’s listed as “business attire” for the first night, and then the rest of the week is business casual. The specified that all of the men had to wear a jacket (sport coat?) There aren’t a whole lot of women in my career, so they didn’t specify anything, and I’m not really sure what is acceptable. I would really appreciate suggestions, web pages with pictures, and possibly a comparison between business attire and business casual. Thanks :)

I would say that business attire would be a pant suit or skirt with a blazer – both with a nice blouse. Business casual could be pants and a blouse (like business attire without the jacket). You may even be able to get away with some non-dress pants like khakis as long as it doesn’t look too casual. http://www.cargearusa.com/srch/srch.php?q=cadillac

If it was me the first night i would wear a nice business suit, maybe a gray, black, or navy. with a cute chunky bracelet, a simple (but nicer) necklace, some earrings, and nice high heels.
Then for the business casual i would wear a nice black pant with a pinstripe wide leg pant, a sky blue, fushia, purple (something sort of brighter…but not too bright) paired with a nice high heel, necklace, and earrings
please remember that it doent have to match it just has to go!
    good luck!

p.s. a cute purse always makes an outfit look 100 times better! http://www.currencyexchangemarket.com/thomas-cook-currency-exchange.htm
